A very basic biography... Crystal Hartman grew up in Durango Colorado, where she resides and works now. As a teenager, she interned with local artist Stanton Englehart and plastic surgeon Ronald Ritz. Attending The University of Colorado at Boulder, she began in Pre-Med and ended studying Printmaking with Clint Cline and International Affairs. After graduation, in Barcelona Spain, she worked and studied contemporary culture filming skateboarding and observing graffiti, music and fine art installations. In Thailand, she studied religion and tradition while taking in the colors and details that dominate Thai arts. Returning home to Colorado, in 2009 Hartman founded and directed Durango Open Studios, an event where professional artists open their studios to the public for one weekend. For the winter of 2010, look for collaborations in sterling silver and tuquoise jewelry with her father and brother, John and Dillon Hartman of Durango Silver Company.
