Crystal Hartman

April 17 - May 28, 2023

Known primarily for her sculptural, hand-carved jewelry, multi-media artist Crystal Hartman will be featured in the Jackson Junge gallery’s fourth solo exhibition of the 2023 season. An individual deeply connected with the natural and organic forces that surround her, Hartman’s chosen body of work features raw edges, rich layering, and encapsulates a true collaboration with nature. With a focus on the glacier-carved plains of the Midwest, Hartman and Jackson Junge are excited to present “on a sheet of ice a flower.”

On view April 21 – May 28, 2023, opening reception to be held Friday, April 21, 2023, from 6 – 9pm.

In this quiet spring...

May this find you warm and well, your heart calm, and loved ones healthy….

Certainly it has been a quiet spring, one that asks us to reflect and to be open to a change of perspective. There are days when I am delighted with our healing earth, breathing, cleaning, opening her sky, and days that I find it difficult to smile or focus… through them all, I am grateful each time I sit down (or stand at an easel or stovetop) to create. Often the result is not what I expected, and it is always in these spaces that I remember we are better to be present than attached to an outcome or the past.

Dream House, Crystal Hartman 2020

Ever I find renewal drawing with wax and holding lovers in my heart while creating jewelry objects for memory, rich in meaning; but here, I am sharing what I have been working on in my times of emptiness, some drawings of home that are becoming collages and book art.
